Patent Steering Committee (PSC) recommendations

The PSC was set to advise on what patent system should be adopted in HK. The following aspects of the proposals likely to be made by the PSC may be politically sensitive :

(1) proposal to provide for a system of registration of patents granted by the European Patent Office;

(2) proposal for the revision of

the present method of complying with the Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT) by providing for the HK Patent Registry to be a receiving office of the UK in addition to the UK Patent Office for the purpose of receiving PCT applications from HK residents.

Present status/progress

The PSC report was issued for public consultation 27.5.1993. Local consultation has recently been completed and responses are being evaluated.
