SPEECH BY MR. MASAKI ORITA, CONSUL-GENERAL OF JAPAN
"COOPERATIVE RELATIONS BETWEEN
JAPAN AND HONG KONG"
FOR DELIVERY AT A DINNER HOSTED BY THE CHINESE MANUFACTURERS'
ASSOCIATION OF HONG KONG
23rd SEPTEMBER 1993
Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I should like to thank the Chinese Manufacturers' Associa-
tion of Hong Kong for kindly inviting me to attend this Associa-
tion dinner gathering. It is a great honour and a pleasure for me
to be given the opportunity to air my thoughts on Hong Kong and
on the relationship that exists between Japan and Hong Kong,
especially before this gathering of distinguished members of the
prestigious association.
As I understand, the Association was
established in 1934,
and now has over 3,600 companies from various sectors of the
industry as members, and this is one of the oldest and most
representative industrial associations in Hong Kong. This Associ-
ation has played a major
major role in the development and prosperity
of Hong Kong, and I should like to express my sincere respect for
your continued contribution to Hong Kong.
