HONG KONG GARRISON
We have been drafting, with the FCO, an OPD(K) Memorandum for the Defence and Foreign Secretaries on the future size of the Hong Kong garrison. This has been stimulated in part by the Governor's wish to see the cost to the Hong Kong government of the garrison reduced. Before we submit to Ministers (at about the end of next
The Cabinet Office week) HM Treasury needs to see the paper.
