The Department will also be responsible for relaying urgent messages (such as those concerning the imposition of curfews or the promulgation of emergency measures) to Government departments, public utility companies, certain private companies and members of the public as necessary. The Department will maintain a 24 hours news and inquiry service to the news media and will monitor their reaction to the situation in order to brief IPC and senior Government officials.
INDUSTRY DEPARTMENT

The Director-General of Industry would be designated the Director of Oil Supplies. He would be responsible for procuring additional supplies of fuel oil etc.. and for determining how existing stocks within the Territory should be allocated if rationing proved necessary.

The major oil companies would be responsible for co-operating with the Director of Oil Supplies (see Part VII paragraph 19).

The Registrar, Supreme Court will be responsible to the Chief Justice for maintaining the operation of the Courts in conditions of civil disturbance.
