Model Scale 1 Staff
The League of Mod 1 Unions, representing 18 staff unions with Mod 1 membership, is watching closely the findings of the survey of the Standing Commission's Pay Survey and Research Unit on the general conditions of service for employees in the private sector rewarded on similar terms as Mod 1 staff. It is expected that the league will press the Administration to amalgamate the Mod 1 pay scale with MPS around late September/early October.
Lands Department
The BLD Working Party formed to review the Land Executive's request to upgrade the grade's entry
qualification is still considering the issue. The situation is under control for the time being.
Social Welfare Department

The Social Work Assistants Branch of the HK Chinese Civil Servants Association were dissatisfied with the Administration's reply that there was insufficient justification to support their pay improvement proposal. At a meeting with the Department and CSB representatives on 30.9.93, the Association gave the Department two weeks to produce new justification after which they would consider industrial action.
Housing Department
The Association of Government Technical and Survey Officers appears to be satisfied with the two reviews conducted by Housing Department, as the two Chief Technical Officer posts in question have been classified as
