1. The journalist interested in the Osman case has written

again to Sir J Coles. He states that copies of classified

documents related to the case have been passed to an Irish

newspaper, and he alleges that the prosecution of the case in

Hong Kong has been corrupt. In previous correspondence,

Sir J Coles has advised Mr Cahill to consider his position

before making any improper use of classified telegrams which

have come into his possession.

2. The letter does not require any reply, and I recommend that none be given. HKD, Legal Advisers and the Home Office

concur.
