Business people or self-employed persons must invest a least
provided the investment is
£150,000 of their own money in a business, commensurate with their interest in the business. The applicant must be capable of meeting any financial liability arising out of the business and must be occupied full-time in the running of the business. Lastly, there must be genuine need for their services and investment.
Persons of independent means can qualify for entry clearance by showing that they have savings of at least £150,000 disposable in the United Kingdom or an income of not less than £15,000 per annum. They must also be willing and able to maintain and accommodate themselves without working, recourse to public funds or assistance from other people.
In addition, they must have a close connection with the United Kingdom, such as relatives or previous residence there, or be able to show that their admission is in the interests of the United Kingdom. Admission is usually for 12 months, with the right to apply for extensions.
