Dear Mr. Sainty,

session

Asia and Pacific Plant Protection Commission

Please find enclosed a report on the seventeenth of the Asia and Pacific Plant Protection Commission held in Kula Lumpur, Malaysia, between 2 and 7 October 1991, for your information and onward despatch to ODA. I would to draw your particular attention to paragraphs 17 to 22 under "Mandatory Contributions from Contracting Governments" in the report.

You may recall that following the sixteenth session of the Commission, wherein the Commission urged countries to expedite ratification of an amendment introduce mandatory contributions, we requested that the amendment be accepted on behalf of Hong Kong our telegram no. 1720 of June 1990 refers.

It is noted that the United Kingdom, as member country of the Commission, has yet to deposit the instrument of acceptance of that amendment on mandatory contributions. I should be grateful if you would let me know when this is likely to occur.

Yours faithfully,

sit
