The
Seventeenth
Session of the Asia and Pacific Plant
Protection Commission (APPPC) was held at the Hotel Grand Continental,
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 2 to 7 October 1991. Thirty-two delegates
from twenty members countries of the Commission attended the Session.
Other observers and participants included representatives from the Japan,
USDA (United State Department of Agriculture), NAPPO (North American Plant
Protection Organization), SPC (South Pacific Commission), UNDP (United
Nations Development Programme), ASEAN PLANTI, MARDI (Malaysian Agricultural
Research and Development Institute) and DOA (Malaysian Department of
Agriculture).

participants can be found in enclosed documents 'RAPA/APPPC/91/1.1' and
'Programme' respectively.
All the essential discussion and final
conclusion is given in the enclosed Draft Report of the 17th Session of
APPPC prepared by the Drafting Committee of the Commission and adopted as
Agenda 16. The following paragraphs of this report will only highlight
some of important issue brought forth by this 17th Session.
