It is proposed that the contracting parties endeavour to promote and facilitate:

the establishment of joint ventures;

the transfer of technology;

cooperation between financial institutions;

visits, contacts and activities to promote cooperation between persons and delegations representing firms or economic organizations,

the organization of seminars and symposia;

consultancy services;

(c) The contracting parties will undertake to encourage and facilitate the

1.

Cooperation in industry

The parties will declare their readiness to develop and diversify Macao's industry and services. Small and medium-sized enterprises will

be mentioned.

2.

Investment

Within the limits of their responsibilities, rules and policies, the contracting parties will agree to promote investments which will benefit both of them. They will undertake to improve the climate for Investment on both sides, notably by means of agreements for the promotion and protection of Investment, based on non-discrimination.

3.

Cooperation in science and technology

Taking Into account their mutual interest and the objectives of their development strategies, the two parties will undertake to promote cooperation in science and technology in such a manner as to encourage transfers of technology. Without excluding any area from the outset, cooperation could cover improvement of standards of living, the environment and applied research in data processing.

4.

Information, communication and culture

Cooperation will cover information, communication and culture. Conservation of objects of historic and cultural interest will be included.

5. Training

The two parties will make provision for appropriate training within the areas covered by the agreement. Other individual training programmes which are of interest to both parties will also be considered.
