This clause will refer to respect for democratic principles and human rights as the basis for cooperation between the contracting parties.
3. Trade
(a) the contracting parties will reaffirm their commitment to conducting
trade with each other in conformity with the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade;
(b) the contracting parties will state that they are prepared to increase
their trade to the greatest extent possible taking due account of their respective economic situations.
4.
Cooperation
(a) Without ruling out any field of activity from the outset, the
contracting parties will list proposed areas of economic and industrial cooperation. These will be chosen in the light of the parties' mutua i Interests and responsibilities.
Cooperation could therefore centre on:

intellectual and industrial property, standards and specifications;

(b) The various forms of industrial and technical cooperation should target
appropriate firms and entities, within the bounds of the needs and capabilities of the contracting parties.
