Agreement officers who wish to join the new pension scheme must first apply for transfer to the pensionable establishment. If approved, those who were appointed on after 1 July 1987 will come under the NPS (JO); those who were appointed prior to 1 July 1987 will be on pensionable terms under the old pension scheme, but they may further apply to join the new scheme under paragraph 7(c) above.

V. Arrangements for officers on transfer from the

public service to the Judicial Service

Officers who were subject to the Pension Benefits Ordinance (PBO) (Cap. 99) before joining the judicial service on transfer from the public service, will have all of the service which attracts pension under the PBO taken into account as pensionable service under the new scheme.

The Director of Accounting Services will shortly each officer a statement of estimated comparative benefits for reference. Officers are requested to direct any enquiries through the Registrar.
