(c) The ages of all applicants range from 19 to 71, whereas those of potentially successful candidates range from 33 to 44. About 57% of all applicants are in the prime age band of 30 to 41. (Please refer to Annex A.) Of those who are potentially successful, 80% fall within this age band whereas only 53% of the potentially unsuccessful fall within this prime age band.

The length of working experience of all applicants ranges from a few months to more than 24 years whereas those of the potentially successful applicants ranges from 10 years to 23 years. 100% of the potentially successful applicants have more than 10 years of experience whereas only 42% of the potentially unsuccessful have such length of experience. (Please refer to Annex B.)
(e) The qualification scores of all applicants range from 20 to 130 (the maximum score for this Approved Occupation). The potentially successful applicants generally hold qualifications higher than the potentially unsuccessful ones. 71% of the potentially successful applicants score more than 100 points,i.e. 3/4 of the maximum score 130, for qualifications, whereas only about 17% of the potentially unsuccessful score such points. (Please see Annex C.)
The profiles of "Translators/Interpreters" have not revealed any anomalous features which require further examination or rectification. The points system has been able to capture Translators/Interpreters who are of the right age band, have adequate experience in the field and are generally well qualified.
