advise whether personality checks and verification interviews. should be triggered for the 42 applicants with the highest provisional scores above the quota line; and

(d) advise that in the event any of these 42 applicants fail the personality checks and verification interviews, whether Immigration Department should proceed with such checks and interviews for applicants with ranking positions falling immediately below the quota line to make sure that all the places will be filled.

BACKGROUND & PROFILES

Under the General Occupational Class, the Approved Occupation "Translators/Interpreters" has a quota of 42 places. A total of 290 applications have been received. This means a success rate of 14%. An anonymised list of these applicants with their provisional points scored under various attributes will be tabled at the coming meeting for members'

consideration.

Members may wish to note the following when considering the applicants' profiles at the meeting -

(a) In calculating applicants' scores, provisional points have been given in cases where there are doubts on various attributes claimed (e.g. regarding experience, qualifications and awards) while assessment on such claims is being made. This is to avoid holding up the queuing process.

(b) Before the award of any Special Circumstances points, the provisional scores of all applicants range from 35 to 562. The quota mark is 482.
