They were born in and have always been resident in Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the Republic of
a.
Ireland (but see para 8), AND
b.
(1) They have strong Crown connections OR
(including Hong Kong Police)
(2)
They offer some "special skill or experience", for example:
(a) Military experience appropriate to the branch/trade in which they are
applying to serve.
(b)
Recognised civilian flying or other relevant qualifications.
(c) Suitable engineering qualifications.
(a)
Civilian medical qualifications.
8.
Irish Citizens. A citizen of the Republic of Ireland is eligible under the Nationality Rules for entry into the Royal Air Force. However, the Irish Government will not allow Irish citizens who are serving in the UK Armed Forces to travel abroad on duty using Irish passports. Therefore, since applicants must be available for worldwide service, Irish citizens must either:
a. Hold or be eligible to obtain a British passport (eg
dual nationals), OR
b. Have lived in the UK for the 5 years immediately
preceding application, thus qualifying to apply for naturalization as a British citizen, and, in due course, for a British passport.
