NATIONALITY AND RESIDENCE WAIVER PROCEDURES FOR RAF SERVICE
1.
In common with the other Services, certain candidates will
require Nationality or Residence waivers. Waivers in respect of
applicants for commissioned or NCO aircrew service are initiated
by OASC, whilst those in respect of ground trade entrants are
initiated by the relevant CIO.
2.
All requests for waivers are submitted to HQ P&SS (UK);
however, this may not be done unless the candidate meets all other
selection criteria and has been found suitable for service. When
requests for waivers are approved by HQ P&SS (UK), notifications
are sent direct to the OASC or to the CIO concerned.
3. In view of the requirements stated at para 2, CIOs
occasionally need to take advice as to whether applications may be
accepted from candidates who will require a waiver. In such cases,
guidance may be obtained from D of R (RAF)'s staff. Where such
advice is sought, D of R's staff may authorise the acceptance of
