Mr. G. Wu, Mr. K.S. Li had two discussions with Mr. Xu Jia Tun of the
Xin Hua News Agency on this project. Mr. Xu informed us that:

"China is solidly behind this project."

"wants to have equity participation." The exact percentage is to
be up to the consortium to decide.
Mr. Xu also stressed that the approval must rest with the Hong
Kong Government. Once approval has been given, China will
announce full support.
Mr. Xu and his team of economists appreciate that this is a very good
scheme for Hong Kong. Quote ("better than the scheme we have in mind.")
Mr. Xu's deputy Mr. Zheng Hua (in charge of economics) believes that
this project will be good for the boost of confidence and investment
climate in the 1990's.
