HONG KONG PATROL BOAT REQUIREMENT
I have checked with the Marine Department to ensure that all was well with your bid and to see whether they had any other comments. They confirmed that they had no problems, and that they were content with the answers they have had from you. I asked about the financial aspects of your bid, and was told that these would not be considered in any detail until the technical evaluations were complete. While in any event these would not primarily be the concern of Marine Department. They are expecting to complete their technical evaluation next month and say they are on course for a recommendation to the Tender Board by the end of March. They do not expect to be in a position to make any substantive comments or announcement before then. I was not able to get any hints about where you stand in the pecking order nor how the competitors are faring.
I have also spoken to the head of Schroders here, Ian Boyce, and have asked him to take a personal interest in their support for your bid.
I suggested that he might like to ensure that all aspects of the financial package with your bid were fully under- stood and appreciated. He said he would.
I will continue to try to keep in contact and will let you know if I hear anything more. Meanwhile it would be helpful if you
could let me know of any developments arising from your own direct contacts with the Marine Department here.
Hong Kong Government recently gazetted a requirement for 11 x 10 metres and 4 x 12 metres Patrol Boats. I assume that these are
