Lap Kok, on 16 November the Provisional Airport

Authority (PAA) will invite tenders from firms

which have already been shortlisted as

prequalified tenderers. It is the intention that

the contract should be let at the start of

January. Before then, the Government will

prepare the necessary temporary arrangements to

enable the PAA to take possession of the area

remuired for this contract to start;

(b) The list sets out the 5 contracts which the

Government now intends to let to construct the

Lantau Fixed Crossing (two for the bridges, two

for road links to them, and one for traffic

control). You will wish to know, and this is not

included in the list, that public invitations

will be issued on 16 November through

advertisements in local and overseas newspapers

and magazines asking interested parties to

indicate if they wish to be considered in a

pre-qualification exercise for the two bridge

contracts. I mentioned to Mr Yang Youyong on 4

October that this pre-qualification exercise

would take place in November.
