(MCL) on the time-scale for the development
In July 1982, the Hong Kong Government entered into an agreement with TSWDL/MCL for the joint development of Tin Shui Wai into a township for some 135,000 persons, MCL is 51% owned by China Resources Company.
The Company served a Statement of Claim in March 1987, alleging delay by the Government in forming the land. Government rejects any assertion that the land had to be delivered by a fixed date and also rejects the claim for damages.
The Government is
proceeding with development at Tin Shui Wai. The first residents of Tin Shui Wai will move in by December 1991 and to this end the implementation of infrastructure works and some GICs has also commenced on site.
The
Government's lawyers are inspecting MCL's files on the Tin Shui Wai Development and similarly MCL is inspecting Government's files. matter has been set down for hearing commencing 7 May 1990 and preparation for the hearing is well under way.

Subvention of Sports
Organizations to attend the Asian Games in Beijing 1990
Sports organizations will approach the Sports Development Board for money to attend the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing.
There have been calls from the public for boycott of the games. Public criticism of HK's participation is expected to continue.
