LINCOLN HANNAH PRESS SUMMARY

The coverage of the Lincoln Hannah Press Cuttings Service is, in my experience, going from bad to worse.

1.

2.

In the course of the last few days, two major items on Hong Kong have been omitted. One was an important article on the Hong Kong airport by John Elliot in the Financial Times; the latest example is an item on the front page of the Financial Times about a possible merger between the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank and Midland Bank.

3. Frankly, a coverage as unreliable as this is simply not worth having. I do not know how much this service costs the FCO, but if my own experience is anything to go by, I do not believe we are getting value for money.

4.

News Department are adamant that they do not chase Lincoln Hannah, and have not done so even when asked by AUSS. This means that it is impossible to follow up legitimate complaints about bad service. In the meantime the FCO pays

(probably through the nose).
