To Host a Cantre for
Hong Kong - American Education Exchanges
Introduction
The U.S. Information Service (USIS) in Hong Kong, the Institute of International Education (IIE), and the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) seek to strengthen and diversify academic exchanges of mutual benefit between Bong Kong and the United States.
To this end, USIS/EK and IIE/8K plan to consolidate several existing functions (including the USIS library and the IIE advising centre) into one organizational unit. This unit would be established as a new legal entity in Hong Kong. It is envisioned as a not-for-profit corporation with a governing board consisting of education leaders from the host institution, ÜSI3, 112, and prominent citizens from Hong Kong and the United States.
To consolidate their efforts in Hong Kong, the USIS, IIE, and CAORC also seek to establish a long-term partnership with a tertiary institution in Hong Kong that would agree to locate the new Centre on its campus, Hosting the Centre would strengthen academic exchanges with this institution in particular, and open new opportunities for service to the tertiary system in general.
In this spirit and to this end, USIS, IIS, and CAORC invite accredited tertiary institutions in Hong Kong to submit concept papers exploring the terms for such a pártnership.

Its referenca collection includes computer access to many databases in the U.S. The library has six trained librarians, and now occupies 4,000 sq. feet of space in the United Centre in Admiralty.
