11th CONFERENCE OF COMMONWEALTH EDUCATION MINISTERS 29 OCTOBER 2 NOVEMBER 1990
The 11th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers is to be held in Barbados from 29 October to 2 November 1990.
I attach an invitation from the Commonwealth Secretary General to the Conference and shall be grateful if you will let me know whether your Government wishes to send a representative, at its own cost, to the Conference as part of the British delegation, or to be represented by Dr Roger Iredale, ODA's Chief Education Adviser.
You will see that "Improving the Quality of Basic Education" has been chosen as the principal theme of the Conference and Governments are invited to prepare country papers on this topic. Guidelines for the preparation of such a paper are attached and I shall be grateful to hear whether your Government proposes to submit a document. If so, would you please send it to me at the above address and I will arrange for it to be included as part of the documentation of the British delegation.
If your Government wishes to be represented by Dr Iredale and has any particular points it would wish him to raise either on the principal theme of the Conference or on the other areas of education outlined in the invitation letter, it would be helpful to have a note of these.
