It is noted that more than half of the people considered that they were facing the mentioned problems personally, except for "refugee-related problems" (43%). 72% of the people said they were facing personally the "Hong Kong Future" problem, same as the figure recorded in May/June 1989.

As regards Government's performance and efforts in solving the problems, only 4% of the people who mentioned "refugee-related problems" considered that the Government "has hanäled the problem well" (cf. 4% in May/June 1989, 9% in December 1988 and 10% in June 1988), and 22% considered that the Government "has exerted a lot of efforts in solving the problem" (cf. 22% in May/June 1989, 29% in December 1988 and 25% in June 1988).

Regarding "Hong Kong Future", 12% of people considered that the Government "has handled the problem well", decreased from 20% in May/June 1989. On the other hand, 21% of people considered that the Government "has exerted a lot of efforts in solving the problem". This is slightly higher than the figure recorded in May/June 1989 (17%).

37% of people said that the Government's overall performance was good. This is lower than the figure recorded in May/June 1989 (41%).

The percentage of people saying that the communication between the Government and the public was good decreased from 40% in May/June 1989 to 35% in this survey.
