(e) Among those who mentioned "environmentul

protection-related problems", the

percentage of people mentioning "air pollution" had increased (45% in August 1989 cf. 29% in May/June 1989 and 38% in both December 1988 and June 1988); and

(f) Among those who mentioned "education- related problems", more people showed concern about "insufficient school places"

(38% in August 1989 cf. 32% in May/June 1989, 30% in December 1988 and 37% in June 1988) and "the unsatisfactory education system" (30% in this survey cf. 20% in May/June 1989, 15% in December 1988 and 9%

in June 1988).

The following questions had been directed at those respondents who had mentioned problems in Hong Kong that needed to be solved:
