8. OTHER GRANTS AND ALLOWANCES

Contract Governors receive neither Outfit Allowance nor Transfer Grant. They receive Climatic Clothing Addition which is supposed to be recovered from the local Government but in practice is not. Outfit Allowance (£4089 for a married DS4) has longer term implications than the immediate posting and would not be appropriate for a three

Transfer Grant year posting, at least at the full rate.

is by definition inappropriate as such although an Outfit Grant at the same level might be considered suitable.

9.

TRAVEL

Contract Governors have the same travel entitlement as DS officers, including Children's Concessionary Journeys but excluding Recreational Journeys. Governors' home leave is governed by local ordinance and existing travel entitlements are probably adequate without the RJ scheme.

10.

FREIGHT

Personal freight entitlements are already the same as for DS officers.

11.

LETTER OF APPOINTMENT

A standard contract letter of appointment would be fairly simple making reference to the Diplomatic Service Regulations that will apply (assuming that the officers concerned are to be formally governed by DSR) and Colonial Regulations as at present. The Memorandum on terms of service and allied matters can be suitably amended to delete references to the Overseas Service Aid Scheme and make any necessary changes in the information presented.
