Additional Airline CIP Accommodation

29.

A revised Category C submission

was lodged on 4 August for the construction of a 2 500 sq.m. 'CIP Block' on the roof of the Stage V

Extension.

Additional Office Accommodation

30.

A revised Category C submission was lodged on 4 August to construct 2 floors totalling 2 600 sq.m. for office accommodation on top of the Stage V Terminal Office Block.

Improvements to the Airport Fire Alarm System

A Category C submission was lodged on 13 August for improvement work to the fire alarm systems at the airport.

AIR TRAFFIC SERVICES

Runway Closure

32.

The runway was closed for emergency repair between 1 200 and 1 236 on 18 September due to a dislodged centreline light unit resulting in the exposure of a hole 30 cm in diameter around the mid-section of the runway. During the closure period, 2 arriving aircraft were diverted to their alternates.

Crash and Rescue Exercise

33.

During the early hours of 30 September, an aircraft crash and rescue exercise was held on the runway promontory. In addition to the Civil Aviation Department, participants included the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, the Fire Services Department, the Medical and Health Department, the Civil Aid Services, the Auxiliary Medical Services, the Immigration Department and Jardine Airways.
