Stage V Terminal Extension
22.
The superstructure work for the Stage V Terminal Building Extension was about 95% complete and work on building services installations and internal partitioning progressed smoothly. The replacement staff canteen was handed over to the canteen operator for fitting-out and decoration on 20 August. The work is scheduled to be completed by 20 November, following which the existing staff canteen will be handed over to the Stage V contractor for demolition. The completion date of the entire Stage V project is scheduled for 22 September 1988.
Stage V Baggage Handling System
23.
Installation work of the Departure Baggage Handling System commenced while that of the Arrival Baggage Handling System will start in November.
Stage V Flight Information Display System
24.
A contract for the supply of the replacement Flight Information Display System was let in August. Additional display equipment will be installed and commissioned to tie in with the opening of the Stage V Terminal Building Extension in September 1988.
Stage V Electronics Systems
25.
Tenders for the supply of electronic facilities, including a public address system, closed-circuit television equipment and various intercom systems required for the Stage V Terminal Building Extension was being evaluated. Submission of tender recommendation is planned for early October. A separate tender exercise has also been initiated to procure additional load control intercom equipment required for the operation of the new Stage V check-in islands. These new electronic facilities will be available for operation on completion of the Stage V Terminal Building Extension.
Stage V Transfer Vehicle Facility (TVF) No. 6
26.
The substructure work for the facility progressed steadily, with piling completed in September.
Refurbishment of Existing Terminal Building
27.
The Category C submission was endorsed by the Public Works Vetting Committee on 21 August. The project estimate is $102.5 million which includes major improvements to the existing air-conditioning system and refurbishment of certain building finishes affected by the improvement work.
East and West Flyovers
28.
Tenders for construction of the East and West flyovers closed on 24 July, and site preparation work commenced in September.
