Mr Alan J. Scott, CVO, OBE, JP
Aged 53. Mr Scott joined the Hong Kong
Civil Service as a Senior Administrative Officer
in September 1971. He served initially as Assistant
Financial Secretary and Principal Assistant Financial
Secretary and became Secretary for the Civil Service in
September 1973. He became Secretary for Housing in 1977;
was Secretary for Information from July 1980 to January 1982,
when he became Secretary for Transport. He has held his
present post of Deputy Chief Secretary since April 1985.
Mr John CHAN Cho-chak, LVO, OBE, JP
Ayed 43. Mr Chan joined the Civil Service
as an Executive Officer II in July 1964. He became
an Assistant Trade Officer two months later and
stayed in the former Commerce & Industry Department
until January 1970 when he was appointed an
Administrative Officer. He then held various posts in
the Economic Services Branch, the former Home Affairs
Department and Social Services Branch.
