Coordination of Potential or Actual Interference Problems attributable to Tsang Tsui Transmitters

The equipment installed at the Tsang Tsui Relay Station will conform with international standards, including those governing the radiation of spurious signals, and the allocation of service frequencies will take account of the need to avoid any potential interference problems.

ACTION

Problems can, nevertheless, arise, for a variety of technical reasons, and the BBC would seek to resolve these, in cooperation with the local Telecommunications Authority and in line with practice adopted at other sites, by, for example, the use of special filters and, in the extreme, by avoiding the use of particular frequencies.

It is proposed that any potential or actual interference problems within Hong Kong/New Territories or raised by the Chinese Authorities that could be attributable to the Tsang Tsui Relay Station be referred, by the staff of Assistant Postmaster General, Telecommunications Branch, Hong Kong, to the BBC's Manager at the Relay Station. Names, addresses, telephone numbers, etc., will be supplied in due course.

Prior to a local Manager being appointed and if, subsequently, Telecommunications Branch staff are not satisfied with the progress being made in resolving a particular problem, reference should be

to:

Chief Engineer, Transmission,

British Broadcasting Corporation,

Broadcasting House,

London W1A 1AA

Telephone: 01 927 4504

Yours sincerely,

(Bert Gallon)
