Dear Mr Leeks,

SHIU-KIN TANG BEQUEST/SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Thank you for your letter on the Tang bequest addressed to Stephen McEnally. As Stephen is presently in Korea acting as a leave-relief I am answering on his behalf and, indeed, on the behalf of America and Pacific Department. We are delighted with the news of Sir Shiu-Kin Tang's generosity and in principle can see no objection to the course of action you propose.

However, as I am shortly to depart on leave and because any scholarship programme will be handled by our Fellows and Scholars Department, I am copying all the correspondence we have to John Green, Director, Fellows and Scholars Department, and will ask him to contact you to discuss the details.

I would hope to catch up with developments on my return in September; Stephen McEnally is also due back in the office on September 9.

Yours ever,
