I understand, one of General Secretary Wayo Bonn purposes of coming here is to promote cooperation between China and Britain. In which areas do you think the two countries can cooperate most effectively?
A. I think that we can cooperate significantly in sharing our
political perceptions of the world. We look at it from different geographical places and from different positions in many ways, but even so I find it very valuable to exchange views with Chinese ministers about politics and of course directly we can
Our cooperate in the economic industrial technical sphere. trade is substantial but should be a great deal more substantial. We have recently established additional facilities to promote expansion of trade by specially bank loan arrangements to the tune of £300 million. I signed the other day agreements on investment, promotion and protection, we have got double tax- ation agreements. We have been opening new consulates in each others countries and we are also going to be signing during the General Secretary's visit agreements about the promotion of scolarships for students. There is already a very large number of students from China in this country, about 1,400 and that number will grow. So culture, trade, politics all those ways we shall see an expansion of our contact.

How about the political area. I would like you to elaborate if you can how can China and Britain cooperate in the common effort to maintain world peace?
