to 'such aspects of the exercise of consultation' as the Team may wish; explain that Sir P. Nairne foresees the possibility of having to respond to approaches from those who wish to meet him, with a consequent need to provide some hospitality; and add that he will certainly not seek to expend the allowance unless there is an official need to do so.
(3) Travel to and from Hong Kong
Jane-Anne confirmed that she would look after the arrangement for aircraft reservations and for the provision of a car to Heathrow ; and she and I are in touch about that.
(4) Arrangements for payment
I have noted that it will be necessary for me to write to you after I have been a few weeks at work in Hong Kong in order to claim formally the fee payments. In doing so, I shall set out details of my bank account into which the payments should be made; and, in the light of the financial considerations set out above, I shall probably urge that payment should be effected with the least possible delay!

In the light of our talk Jane-Anne Klowak and I had a word about the text of the draft letter, and I suggested that there might be advantage in some relatively minor expansion of paragraph 4. We also noted that it would probably be appropriate for my appointment to begin on Tuesday 25 September, the day on which I at present plan to fly out to Hong Kong.
