Thank you for your letter of 27 March.

As you know, I will only be in Hong Kong for about

48 hours, so time will be at a premium. I believe I will be

seeing David Hunter at a reception, along with about 120

others but I do not think I will have time to meet Mr Walden

or Mrs Elliott. However, I will be having lunch with some 40 Hong Kong Chinese from different walks of life; they include elected and appointed members of the Urban Council and District Boards, and a wide variety of people prominent in other fields including the media, unions and voluntary organisations. Given the short time available, I am sure it is best to concentrate on trying to meet as many local Chinese as possible.

GEOFFREY HOWE

Robert Adley Esq MP
