Frisoner was a very nice elder brother at home, having strong sense of responsibility towards family. He, however, was found to be very stubborn, subjective, and unskilful in speech. And as he was too blunt and straight forward he could not well adjust to any change of circumstances. Due to his strong self-esteem, Prisoner had not told his family that he had lost his job at R & A Millett Co. Ltd. which might help to account for his return to this Company again before this incident. Above all, Mr. POON stressed that the Prisoner would not purposefully bring the hammer to the office to murder the Deceased and he was not a cruel or brutal people. Rather it was likely that he might just kill the Deceased when he had lost his self control and senses after a fight. Lastly he earnestly requested a lenient sentence for Prisoner.

During the home visit, fadam YLUNG had wept bitterly and repeatedly passed favorable comments on Prisoner. He was deeply loved by his mother and siblings for he was a very responsible and family-oriented person. All the time, he took up the bread-winner's role and never had complaints. In the past years, he was always behaving himself and had not committed any crime.

In present case, Madam YEUNG was terribly depressed and was also sorry for the Deceased's misfortune. Lastly she wished to send her apology to Deceased's family and also requested a lenient sentence from Court.

She

Madam C was a neighbour and a friend to Prisoner's family. had known Frisoner for about 14 years and never heard him to have disputes with people. She understood that he was an industrious and polite young person who was a factory sample inspector. As Prisoner was such a nice character in the past, Madam MO thus believed that he might not commit the present offence intentionally.

Madam LLUNG was very sad and emotional when she related about the Deceased, her eldest son. with tears in her eyes, she described the Deceased to be a very peaceful, friendly and hard-working person who had planned for marriage in May, 1979, a month after the murder offence. Previously, the Deceased had no fighting record and seldom had quarrels with people. In this incident, Madam LEUNG deeply believed that Prisoner might kill the Deceased due to his jealousy of Deceased's promotion in the R & A Millett Co. Ltd. Nevertheless, she was of the opinion that Prisoner should receive life imprisonment sentence for his brutal murder.
