According to Mr. CHENG, Prisoner was a fairly easy-going, peaceful and decent youth. He seldom played his temper or had any disputes with people. For the one month working together at Top Coats Garment Factory, Prisoner was found to have fair work performance. But Mr. CHENG could not understand why he would return to work for R & A Millett Company again. Anyhow, Prisoner had previously discussed with him about operating a domestic factory in future. All the time he was impressed to be a thoughtful and good-natured person. Therefore Mr. CHENG concluded that it was very unlikely that Prisoner would plan to murder the Deceased in this case.
Hr. NG was Prisoner's teacher when he was a Primary 5 student at Ning Nam Primary School in 1967. After leaving school, Prisoner still had close contacts with the teachers and the ex-schoolmates. Frequently they had some gatherings and social functions. All along, Prisoner was found to be a fairly ambitious and motivated youth who had the dream to run his own factory in future. By end of 1978, Prisoner expressed that he was unhappy with his job and intended to operate a domestic factory himself. Since then he had consulted Mr. NG's elder brother on factory business for a few times. But anyway, Prisoner never gave people the impression that he would be a violent and brutal murderer. Instead, he was commented to be a peaceful introvert, being very righteous and responsible in character.

Prisoner and Mr. FUNG were schoolmates for many years. They became good friends after leaving school. During weekends, they and other ex-schoolmates frequently had outings and gatherings. In all these years, rrisoner was found to have no bad habits and have good sense of responsi- bility towards family but he was quite narrow-minded at times. Besides, he was rather helpful and friendly towards people. About one month before this murder incident, Mr. FUNG's father had passed away and Frisoner had voluntarily assisted him in the funeral matter. Further, Mr. FUNG recalled that Frisoner had asked him about garment factory work and did express his interest in starting a domestic factory himself. In the end, Mr. FUNG believed that Prisoner might not commit this scrious mistake purposefully.
Although Miss POON had married in 1967, she had visited home very often, about five or six times a week. She therefore had good under- standing in Prisoner's personality. He was strongly assured to be a good-natured, responsible and hard-working person with high respect for their mother. For past few years, he was the sole bread-winner of the family. All the time, he planned to have his own business and to provide better living for the family. Before, he was a quiet and peaceful youth and never had any disputes with neighbours. But perhaps due to his stubborn and strong character, Prisoner might easily offend people. Further he was too subjective and was not ready to accept others' opinions which might explain his poor relationship with the co-workers, commented Miss POON. Lastly she could not believe that Prisoner would be a murderer with pre- meditated intent in this case.
