1. Thank you for your letter of 1st March enclosing a copy of the draft paper referred to in paragraph 2(a) of your letter of 10 February to McLaren. Having now read it and thought about it - and I am sorry that other commitments have prevented me from doing so earlier - I can only confirm the conclusion which I tentatively recorded in my letter of 25 February, namely, that there are no comments which I can usefully make at this point. My offer to join in discussions of the problem, if that were thought helpful, remains open but I still think that it would make more sense for

me to hold back until you have some specific questions for us.
