A similar piece was carried by the Glasgow Herald in
May and others have no doubt appeared elsewhere. Mr Eas

The article's main thrust is that 'the FCO deliberately
delayed a settlement of the Falklands dispute with
Argentina
because it was obsessed by the possible
effects of a settlement in Hong Kong.' This is of cours
quite untrue. Apart from the fact that both are
Dependent Territories there is no similarity or connecti
between the position of the Falkland Islands and that of
Hong Kong.
