Purpose
To make a comprehensive study. of the development potential of
various sub-regions in Hong Kong to provide the basic information on a comparable basis for the selection of a preferred develop- ment strategy.

LDPC considered Phase I report on conceptual planning proposals and agreed that further detailing studies should proceed, including the without airport option.

To set up a
consultancy for Phase II of the Further Studies.
(ii) Replacement airport at Chek Lap
Kok detailed civil engineering, environmental, financial, meteorological and master plan studies are proceeding.
(iii) Consultancy studies on the
detailed design of the Lantau Fixed Crossing continuing.
(b) N.V. New Territories
Consultancy work continuing on the detailing of the base development strategy. Discussion commenced on inputs for the LUTO study.
(c) N.E. New Territories
Consultants' draft final report circulated for departmental comments. Work on Ma On Shan Transport Study nearing completion.
