Purpose

Governor in Council ordered that the Attorney General should proceed

urgently to consider

possible amendments

to the Streets

(Alteration)

Progress Made & Present Position

roadworks. Accordingly a bill entitled the Road (Works, Use and Compensation) Bill 1982 was drafted and submitted to Executive Council in February 1982. The 2nd reading of the Bill was moved in LegCo on 10th March 1932 when the debate was adjourned

To terminate the issue of new land exchange entitle- ments for land resumed in New Territories.

To study the structure, operation and locational requirements of the container industry in Hong Kong so as to Frovide a basis for Government to

for representations to be made by the public and to permit a detailed examination of the Bill by LegCo members to take place. A working group chaired by the Solicitor General is formulating the Administration's replies to questions from a UMELCO ad hoc group and its comments on repre- sentations by the public.

Following a meeting held under the Chief Secretary's chairman- ship on 12th January 1982, a memorandum has been prepared for submission to ExCo.
