It appears that there is little prospect of a sale if Chinese characters cannot be transmitted. We understand from BBC Research that this is in fact possible as, indeed, the Aregon British Telecom consortium is. offering Chinese for viewdata in Singapore and Radofin are negotiating about development of an adaptor to support Chinese.
A less attractive possibility is to supply an English language teletext service via the cable TV system which serves many of the ... hotels in Hong Kong.
IT Division has offered financial assistance to VG Electronics in
promoting a demonstration service with Radofin Hong Kong.Thus a small system could be made available to either of the Hong Kong TV
broadcasters at a cost to them as low as £7000.
