Other Questions concerning border safety on either side

Liaison Methods

(i) Each side will appoint two liaison officers and two

deputy liaison officers to maintain contacts and arrange for

meetings. Either side will exchange its list of liaison officers

and their specimen signatures with the other side through the

(ii) To facilitate contacts between the two sides, telephone(s)

will be installed at the border between Shenzhen and Lo Wu,

a system of having (someone) on duty throughout 24 hours will be

implemented. If either side deems it necessary to have a meeting

between both sides, the liaison officer could contact (the other

side) through the telephone. Details on telephone installation

will be discussed at the first meeting.

Methods of Meetings.

(i) On principle, border meetings will be held once a month in

the first four months. The first meeting will be held in June 1981.

(ii) On principle, meetings will take place at a post either side

in turn (e.g. Shenzhen and Lo Wu).
