Fringe Benefits for married women officers

11.

In November 1980, Executive Council endorsed the

Administration's proposal that married women officers should

be eligible for the same benefits as married men officers

as far as they themselves are concerned, but not for their

husbands and children, with the exception of medical benefits

which will also be provided for their children. However,

difficulties have been encountered in implementation and

this policy is being critically re-examined, and a revised

ExCo memo is under preparation.

Assistance to Civil Servants in debts

The refinancing scheme was implemented on

12 March 1981. Coupled with the implementation of the

months for civil servants to declare their debts and to

apply for refinancing without attracting disciplinary

action. The scheme was well received.

Within the first

month of operation, a total of 6,334 enquiries were received

of which 1,510 resulted in an application for refinancing.
