Fringe Benefits for married women officers

In November 1980, Executive Council endorsed the
Administration's proposal that married women officers should
be eligible for the same benefits as married men officers
as far as they themselves are concerned, but not for their
husbands and children, with the exception of medical benefits
which will also be provided for their children. However,
difficulties have been encountered in implementation and
this policy is being critically re-examined, and a revised
ExCo memo is under preparation.
Assistance to Civil Servants in debts

The refinancing scheme was implemented on
12 March 1981. Coupled with the implementation of the
scheme was the announcement of a period of grace of six
months for civil servants to declare their debts and to
apply for refinancing without attracting disciplinary
action. The scheme was well received.
Within the first
month of operation, a total of 6,334 enquiries were received
of which 1,510 resulted in an application for refinancing.
Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service
13.
The Standing Commission is now concentrating
on new areas identified in Chapter 12 of its Report No. 5,
Priority is being given to review Civil Service pay policy.
The Commission has issued a Consultative Document on the
subject to staff, management and other interested parties.
