Miss Lydia DUNN

Unofficial Member of Legislative Council, since 1976.

Current Chairman of the Special Committee on Land Production, the Appointments Board of the Chinese University and a member of the Textile Advisory Board.

A Cantonese brought up in Shanghai and educated in Hong Kong and America, Miss Dunn is an outstanding example of what a local can achieve in an expatriate firm. She reached the board level at the age of 32 and became one of the two Chinese Directors in the Swire Group. She is therefore very highly thought of by young Chinese executives as having "made it" in a conservative British firm. She moves freely in Cantonese, Shanghainese and European circles and is known for her intelligence, quick wit and a sharp tongue. Forthright and outspoken, with an excellent command of English and various Chinese dialects and an ability to readily comprehend various issues. An up-and-coming Member of the Legislative Council whose performance during the past two years has indicated real potential.
