I enclose a copy of a letter which has been addressed to the Prime Minister by the Secretary of the Division of Social

Responsibility of the Methodist Church about South East Asian refugees, urging the

Government to admit at least 15,000 refugees to this country.

I should be grateful for a draft of a No. 10 Private Secretary reply which could be sent to Mr. Hastings; it would be helpful if the draft, agreed with the Home Office, could reach me not later than 1700 on Friday 20 July.

I am copying this letter to Tony Butler (Home Office).
