1.
It was very nice to meet you during my visit to Hong Kong and I found our discussion extremely helpful. I will certainly take up with those concerned in the COI your comments about some of the LPS material and the delay in obtaining feature material which was requested by Miss Chan. The wider question of material to support British exports to China may well have to be looked at in the context of future arrangements for this type of trade promotion. I am, however, also telling the COI of your comments on their Trade with China articles.
2. Meanwhile you said that you would be looking at the presentation of Britain Trades and it may be worthwhile my again mentioning two points that I made, albeit that I am not claiming to be any sort of expert in this field:
a. it strikes me that it would be useful to have
some indication on the outside of the publication that it does contain material in Chinese;
b.
the lay-out, graphics etc. When you mentioned that you were thinking of employing someone to assist with this I said that the British Council do have someone who is now very much involved with the lay-out and production of their material in Hong Kong. Although I imagine they are pretty pressed, it may well be that you could come to some arrangement with the gentleman (I believe his name is Raymond Chan) to help over Britain Trades.
