BBC TV Panorama have, asked for

special facilities to cover the Secretary of State's

visit to Hong Kong. They are devoting their last programme

in the present series (for broadcast on 16 July) to the

refugee problem. Their crew of three would like to fly

down to Hong Kong from Tokyo on Lord Carrington's aircraft.

They will not wish to film on the plane, but will wish to

record the Secretary of State disembarking at Hong Kong.

They will be joined in Hong Kong by Tom Mangold (Presenter)

and Robin Denselow (Producer). The team would like to take

film at appropriate moments of the Secretary of State's visit

and also record an interview. They propose to go on with

us to Kuala Lumpur and shoot more film there, again including

clips of the Secretary of State's visit.

Agence France Press have an office

in Hong Kong; and also an office in Singapore which covers

Kuala Lumpur. Their Bureau Chief here is confident that

both offices would be keen to cover the Secretary of State's

visit. He will be glad to pass word to them. Agence France

Press copy filed from that area would, of course, be used

not only by the press in metropolitan France, but also by

press in many non-aligned countries, particularly in South

East Asia.
