SEMINAR ON THE FUTURE OF DEPENDENT TERRITORIES: BY PARLIAMENTARIANS
1.
72
PARTICIPATION
Mr Ridley has seen your minute of 9 August and Mr Stratton's subsequent minute of 10 August.
2. Mr Ridley agrees that the first preference should be Lord Pitt with Miss Boothroyd and Mrs Hart (in that order) as alternatives on the Labour side.
3. On the Conservative side Mr Ridley's order of preferences are Mr Anthony Nelson, Mr Bowen Wells, Mr Anthony Kershaw, Mr Brocklebank-Fowler.
4. Incidentally, as a result of a conversation I had with him recently on other business, Mr Ted Rowlands' plans to be out of the country at the end of September may well fall. I think he will know for sure by the first week in September. He would of course be the best choice for a Labour person, unless it were unrealistic to leave things for so long.
