EXCO MINUTES : 3 July 1979
THE CREATION OF PENSIONABLE OFFICES ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ICAC
(L/M in CAC/C/178/1)
The Council considered memorandum XCC(79)68.
The Council ADVISED and the Governor ORDERED:
that a new pensionable grade should
be created in the ICAC as indicated
in paragraph 12 of the memorandum to
accommodate selected pensionable
Government officers who joined the
Commission under the terms of Civil
Service Branch Circular No. 5/74.
The Council noted confirmation by Sir Y.K. Kan
that the problem had been considered by the
Advisory Committee on Corruption and that the
proposal had its support. The Council also
noted the point made in discussion by the
Financial Secretary that one of the considerations
taken into account originally in deciding on
a Special Allowance had been that service with
the Commission was not pensionable, and that
to continue the Allowance now after the creation
of a pensionable grade therefore constituted an
additional concession to the officers concerned.
(The Commissioner ICAC (Acting) (Mr G.A. HARKNETT)
attended before the Council for the discussion of this
item).
